Our Programs

Public Speaking
(Character Education and Life Skills)

Champions Charter Academy will harvest a communications academy which will align with Fremont Unified School District’s (FUSD) mission to provide equitable opportunities to educate, challenge and inspire students of all ages, talents and ability levels, while striving to prepare each with the skills required to adapt and succeed in an ever-changing world. Confidence is the core of our program because it provides the growth mindset attitude where children believe their possibilities are endless.

Public Speaking Program:  The personalized, intimate connections from our public speaking program that is all-inclusive will challenge and inspire students of all ages. It will be a 3-part program, which is broken up into three trimesters:

Character Building: Decision-making, teamwork, and how to use social-emotional skills to communicate.

Life Skills: Citizenship, safety, responsibility and emergency readiness.

Health: Nutrition, meal preparation, hygiene, cleanliness

Speech and Debate Program

We will also foster communication with speech and debate. Students will be exposed to grade-level standards and units in Science and Social Studies. They will learn to communicate personal experience, research and justify how their research proves their points. All of these communication strategies will reflect all learning styles: visual, musical/auditory, social, kinesthetic, logical/mathematical, linguistic and intrapersonal.

  • Debates: Students practice communication through clear articulation of ideas, persuasive speaking, critical thinking, responding thoughtfully to opposing viewpoints, and effectively presenting arguments with supporting evidence.
  • Trials: Students practice public speaking skills, persuasive argumentation, active listening, clear articulation, and effective questioning techniques as they take on roles like lawyers and witnesses, requiring them to present information confidently, build a compelling case, and respond to opposing arguments in a courtroom setting.
  • Drama/Story-telling: Students practice a range of communication skills including: active listening, clear expression, vocal projection, non-verbal communication (body language), effective dialogue delivery, empathy, collaboration, taking turns speaking, interpreting emotions, and adapting their communication style to different characters and situations.

Community Learning Program

Students will engage in community-based learning where they can be good samaritans, meet role models and become global citizens. It fosters collaboration, allows for knowledge exchange, provides real-world application of skills, enhances personal connections, and can lead to positive societal impact by addressing community needs, ultimately preparing individuals to be active and engaged citizens within their community while developing valuable skills for the workforce. Students will participate in a 3-part community learning program:

  • Role-models: Students will learn a wide range of valuable life skills from role models, when they communicate positive behaviors like kindness, responsibility, perseverance, problem-solving, healthy habits, social skills, goal setting, confidence, and a positive attitude.
  • Community service: Kids learn valuable communication skills through projects that teach them life skills like empathy, time management, leadership, and a sense of purpose Park clean-up, recycling projects, planting a school garden, and more.
  • Global citizenship: Exposure to various cultures broadens students’ understanding of the world, fosters empathy and respect for others, and helps them develop the social skills needed to thrive in a diverse society

Read-to-Achieve Program

CCA’s Read-to-Achieve program will execute communication with a focus on oral phonics and read-alouds. When children gain the foundational phonics skills and ability to blend letters, they are ready to practice reading. A reading session of both fiction and non-fiction will be incorporated into the school day for children to practice reading speed, accuracy and comprehension. This daily experience will challenge and inspire children of all levels because everyone will be provided with a positive space to learn and grow and be provided the instruction to make their goals attainable.

  • Science and Social Studies Program: Children will apply the foundational reading skills they learn in our Read-To-Achieve program and apply them to fiction and nonfiction textbook reading in these classes. They will learn to identify the main idea, important vocabulary, analyze textual evidence and communicate understanding and its applicability.

  • Language Arts (Written communication): Children will compose narrative, expository and persuasive writing by thinking out loud. We will complete a variety of stories and essays together by gathering ideas, various vocabulary, transitions and vivid detail from one another.

Hands-on-Math Program and Financial literacy program

Our 2-part math program facilitates communication through critical thinking, problem-solving, and savings/spending skills. CCA will start a two-part Math program that uses hands-on techniques and real-world scenarios that are age appropriate for children to master their math skills, but be engaged at the same time. Our Financial Literacy program will incorporate age-appropriate topics such as event planning, getting a job, working with a budget, networking, sales, and developing a business.

  • Hands-on Math: Children will communicate learning by engaging in projects such as time, fractions, measurements, estimation, distance, and architecture.
  • Financial Literacy: Children will communicate math learning by demonstrating the benefits of saving and spending. Children will engage in numerous entrepreneurship opportunities. Each section of the curriculum gives children the opportunity to communicate and think because they have the time to create their own businesses and see them in action.

Media Literacy program

Learning basic computer skills like typing, navigating the internet, and using productivity tools is essential in today’s digital world. Our focus is to guide children to maximize their communication and learning potentials when using social media at school and at home.

  • Digital citizenship: Students will learn how to navigate the online world safely, responsibly, and respectfully
  • Enhance learning: Students will engage in interactive experiences, allowing them to access a wide range of information, foster critical thinking, improve problem-solving abilities, and promote collaboration through online platforms.
  • Interactive learning: Educational software and games can make learning fun and engaging and challenge them at their own pace.

Physical Education program

CCA’s physical education program is an additional important component of student’s lives. Children must learn to develop healthy habits and maintain them throughout their lives without lacking confidence. CCA will promote team-work, encouragement and inclusion. We will complete sports units where we use positive reinforcement. Staff will assign teams and partners to promote positive communication and to help boost motivation. Children will be assessed on improvement and participation in these three areas:

  • Endurance and agility: relay races, sport games, running
  • Balance, flexibility and coordination: obstacle courses, stretch and hold, drills
  • Strength development: crawling, climbing, pilates, pushing and pulling
